Experience our Black Forest!
Seize the opportunity to get closer with your spouse. Leave everyday life behind and spend more time together. Arm in arm with your partner, you could walk through the romantic city of Freiburg with its beautiful winding old town. Visiting Freiburg, you should definately see the Münster and the Augustiner Museum. Should you feel hungry, go to Freiburg’s busy market hall. But beware! It is truly difficult to decide on only one of the splendid international meals there.
The smaller villages and towns in the area are also worth visiting. You could go and have a look around the old monastery in St. Peter, or enjoy a piece of cake in the Landfrauen Café in St. Märgen. Have a stroll through the idyllic town of Staufen with ist beautiful shops, or visit the St. Stephansmünster in Breisach at the Rhine.
Of course, a trip to the Alsace is always a good option. Be it Colmar, Mulhouse or Ribauville, you can get to all of these beautiful towns via the Alsace wine trail. Once there, you could and should take a little detour through the Vosges. A little farther away, Strasbourg awaits with ist big city flair. Make sure that you try one of the many delicacies from the numerous patisseries in the city.
Or are you the touristic type?
In Triberg, you can find not only the biggest waterfalls in Germany, but also innumerable cuckoo-clocks just waiting for their new owners. Schluchsee and Titisee-Neustadt feature marvellous lakes. A leisurely stroll around these waters is definately worth your time.
For beer-lovers, we can suggest a trip to Alpirsbach with ist historic monastery and long tradition of brewing, as well as a visit to the state brewery Rothaus in Grafenhausen.
If you prefer wine, make a tour of the Kaiserstuhl with ist many tiny and idyllic villages and try winery after winery.
For those who want to travel a little further, the Schwarzwaldhochstraße (Black Forest high street) leads you to Baden-Baden a typical spa town with mediterranean flair.
Or go South and explore the Bodensee and the wonderfully located city of Konstanz which offers brilliant shopping opportunities and innovative gastronomy. Meersburg is not far from there. Reachable by ferry, it is definately worth visiting.
If your whole family is with you, there are still many adventures to have!
There is no way around a trip to Europa Park in Rust. The park is a perfect place for adrenaline junkies as well as visitors that like to take it slow.
Small doses of culture and tradition, appropriate for children of all ages, can be experienced at the Vogtsbauernhöfe (museum of traditional farming houses) in Gutach. Here you can get some Black Forest ham, which is a great gift to bring back home, or a big piece of Black Forest cake. Right next to the museum is a great summer sled run.
On cold and rainy days we recommend a trip to the Black Forest bathing paradise in Titisee-Neustadt. Here you can choose between relaxing at the palm-oasis or wellness-oasis, or the thrilling joys of the galaxy with more than 20 slides and further attractions.
Visitors big and small, young and old are welcome to "Le Vaisseau" in Strasbourg. This museum for the whole family lets you experience, touch and try out.
Animal-watching can be done at the Mundenhof in Freiburg, the "Montagne des Singes" in Alsace, where you can walk through an ape enclosure, and at the wild cat adventure path in Bad Herrenalb (1,5h drive).
